Scientific publications
J-PET technology is developed by the research group at the Jagiellonian University (Department of Experimental Particle Physics and Applications – Homepage).

Here 3 out of more than 100 scientific publications are listed:

* Positronium imaging with the novel multiphoton PET scanner
Science Advances 7 (2021) eabh4394

* Positronium image of the human brain in vivo
Science Advances 10 (2024) eadp2840

* Nonmaximal entanglement of photons from positron-electron annihilation demonstrated using a novel plastic PET scanner
Science Advances 11 (2025) eads3046

Conference presentations
J-PET technology and research results using J-PET technology were presented at more than 100 invited conference talks and posters.

Here three selected examples are given:

* 2025: Invited plenary lecture entitled “ Jagiellonian PET: Democratizing access to positron emission tomography with low-cost, modular, lightweight, and portable PET scanners based on plastic scintillators
at the congress of the Japanese Society of Nuclear Medicine
The 65th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Japanese Society of Nuclear Medicine / The 45th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Nuclear Medicine Technology

* 2024: Invited lecture entitled “New instrumentation and detector design in molecular imaging “ at the 5 th European Congress of Medical Physics
ECMP: European Congress of Medical Physics Joint Conference of the DGMP, ÖGMP & SGSMP

* 2024: Professor Paweł Moskal won the award for the best presentation at the Total-Body PET 2024 – TBPET2024 conference, awarded by the European Societies for Molecular Imaging (ESMI).
His presentation titled Constructing total-body JPET: 250 cm long multi-photon PET from plastic scintillators was devoted to the project of building a whole-body PET tomograph from plastic scintillators.
The prototype of this device was first used for clinical imaging at the University Hospital in Krakow and at the University Medical Center of the Medical University of Warsaw.
The conference took place in Groningen at the FORUM cultural center between September 19 and 21. More than 220 scientists and clinicians from around the world took part in it, including research groups cooperating with the only manufacturers of long-axis field imaging (LAFOV) PET tomographs: United Imaging and Siemens Healthineers and GE HealthCare.
Professor Paweł Moskal presented to participants the vision of making molecular imaging technology available also in low- and middle-income countries, not only by producing economical PET tomographs made of plastic, but also by producing more accessible radionuclides for imaging (scandium-44 isotope).
